“We don’t see things as they are, we see things as we are.”
(Anaïs Nin) I am an autodidact, I make art ‘in (limited) edition’, either digital graphic prints, or prints of original graphic gouaches (digitally edited or not), or photography. My work is abstract, usually very geometric - whether or not in combination with curved lines - and with a spectrum of gray values and/or an exuberant colour scheme, often in combination with black & white.
In terms of colour and form, I am indebted to Johannes Itten (with his ideas about composition and colour, his influential work on colour theory and his colour circle), Josef Albers (with his study on the interaction of colours and structural constellations), Wassily Kandinsky (with his theory on the ratio 'point | line | plane') and Paul Klee (also an autodidact, with its very individual style and use of colour). In general, I am strongly influenced by the plastic arts of the Bauhaus and very inspired by architecture: much of my plastic work shows architectural influences. In addition, I am involved in photography. I mainly use the medium of photography to create digital compositions. I photograph my gouache works and pencil or ink sketches and then edit them with digital drawing programs. This varies from retouching, digital colouring and drawing up to creating and further editing digital collages based on snippets of photographs. Also take a look at
In June 2019 I had my first exhibition ("Comfortzone In | Out") in a unique historic building from 1760 (Huis DIEvers vzw, Diest, Belgium)
